The HES 5th grade team chose Imogene Roncadori, a retired educator, as our Hometown Hero.  Imogene went to school at North Jackson Elementary School where her mom was also a teacher while she attended school there.   She graduated from UGA and began her teaching career in 1979 at North Jackson Elementary School.  She has always been a lifelong learner and leader in education.  She has her Master’s degree as well as her Specialist in Early Childhood Education.  In addition, she is Nationally Board Certified and served on numerous county committees during her tenure in JCSS.  Imogene taught for 37 years at North Jackson Elementary School with 34 of those years being in 3rd grade---teaching over 700 third graders during her tenure in that grade level.  Imogene retired in 2016 and then worked 49% at North Jackson as a Title I teacher and MTSS school coordinator for two more years before deciding to become 100% retired.  She still lives in Jackson County and helps her husband at The Round Barn, a mattress store started by her father.  She still keeps in contact with many of her former students, and any student who ever had her as a teacher would all agree that she is a true hometown hero.
