JCSS Approved For Peach Education Tax Credit

JCSS Approved For Peach Education Tax Credit

The Jackson County School System has been approved to take part in the Peach Education Tax Credit, which allows for individuals, businesses and corporations to designate a portion of their state income tax bill to be utilized locally in Jackson County.

The Peach Education Tax Credit allows taxpayers to donate and support innovative programs that foster educational excellence for students. Donors receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their state income tax. Individuals and businesses can now allow state income tax dollars to remain local and benefit the Jackson County School System.

The Jackson County School System will utilize the tax donations to support student readiness at all levels, including early literacy workshops for caregivers, access to books and guidance for families to engage in literacy rich environments, as well as activities for students and their families as they move between each grade band – from elementary to middle school, middle to high school, and high school to college, career, military, and the workforce.

Additionally, the school system aims to raise $1,500,000 to revolutionize education in Jackson County by providing industry-relevant equipment, technologically advanced training tools, and creating unique, project-based learning experiences for students by providing teachers the tools necessary to complete this task.

The program allows for individuals, heads of households or married couples that file separately to receive a tax credit of up to $2,500. Married couples filing jointly are eligible to receive up to a $5,000 credit, while S-corporation shareholder, LLC member or partnership partners are eligible for a $25,000 credit. A C-corporation or trust is eligible to receive up to 75 percent of annual Georgia income tax liability.
